Mr T - it depends which direction you're heading on the train as much as anything. You want to walk to the station BEFORE Upton Park for whichever way you're going, then you'll get on easily.

I have a always walked to Plaistow, but because I can do without the packed train, I bus it Stratford and get a central line to Mile End and then change for a District Line to Blackfriars.

Sounds busy, but it's not too bad.

I'd walk to East Ham, quite straightforward and a bit more civilized.

Once upon a time used to be the journey taken by bods in order to give plod the slip and get at the travelling fans on the way back

Not anymore, too busy trying to make friends nowadays instead of being in attack mode

I've walked out to the Barking Road and jumped on a bus to Canning Town before, could be an option if you need Jubilee.

Cheers chaps - will follow the crowd to Plaistow I think as he is fine walking, just gets a bit claustrophobic in the queue.

Re: Advice please on after match travel plans
Absolutely right, there will be threads about how to avoid the queues and hold ups walking to Stratford station as has happened at pretty much every event held at the OS even the lowly attended ones.

Mr T

I always walk to Plaistow and have done for years - I just don't like queueing. There are hundreds and hundreds that do the walk now so you can just follow the crowd. As long as you son prefers a 20 minute walk to queueing for 20 mins then it's a good option.

Won't have this sort of stress next season, Mr T.

Re: Advice please on after match travel plans
Which way are you going? Where are you sitting?

If you're going East and round the BML/Chicken Run side then a walk to East Ham tube may be better, or if going West or round the otherwise of the ground then Plaistow is the option.

Mr T,
I have tried this a number of times as I get a train to west ham then onto the jubilee line. IN the end we always walk it all the way to west ham

the issue is there is no queue at plaistow however the trains are very busy.

it would be quite a long walk for a 7 year old but enough people to require directions

Re: Advice please on after match travel plans
20 minute walk. Sometimes you can be in the queue for that long, so if you're not out of the ground sharpish, then the walk to Plaistow is a sensible option.

You'll be fine to board a train, just go further towards the middle or the front.

Re: Advice please on after match travel plans
20 minute walk, you'll be able to jump straight on a train so just follow the crowd walking down the road opposite the west stand.

Watch out for dog-shit alley.
